Landhand terms of use
Score Software LLC, Malta, Montana. Last updated 5 November 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and Score Software LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of
the Landhand app. By installing or using Landhand you agree to them. If you do not agree, do
not use the app.
The short version. Landhand is a guide, not a survey. The lines, owners,
roads and verdicts it shows come from public records and automated checks that can be wrong
or out of date. Before you go somewhere, check the boundary on the ground, check the current
regulations, and get permission for private land. You are responsible for where you go and
what you do there.
1. What Landhand is
- Landhand puts public information on a map: property lines and owner names from state and
county tax records, public land from federal and state agencies, roads and trails from
OpenStreetMap, and similar sources. We do not make this data and we cannot check all of it.
- Property lines are drawn from tax maps, not from surveys. They can be off by a few feet or
by much more, especially where survey corners are missing. Ownership changes, and records lag
behind. The deed and the county's official record are the authority, not the app.
- Labels such as Huntable, No hunting, Road reaches it, Two-track
only and Possibly landlocked are automated estimates made from that data. They are
not legal advice and not a statement that you may enter, cross or hunt any piece of land.
- Your position comes from your phone's GPS, which can be off, especially under trees, in
canyons or with a weak signal. Do not rely on the app where an exact position, distance or
direction matters.
- Roads shown on the map may be private, gated, seasonally closed, washed out or impassable.
Directions and drive times are estimates.
2. What you are responsible for
- Obeying the law where you are, including trespass, hunting, fishing, firearms, motor
vehicle, road closure and land-use rules.
- Checking boundaries yourself: signs, fences, paint, posted notices and survey corners.
- Checking the current regulations, seasons, closures and access rules with the agency in
charge (for example Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the BLM or the Forest Service) before
you hunt or travel.
- Getting the landowner's permission before you go onto private land, whatever the app
shows.
- Your own safety and judgment outdoors, including weather, terrain and road conditions.
3. Landowner information
Owner names and mailing addresses in Landhand come from public government records. You may use
them for lawful purposes, such as asking permission, doing business, or knowing whose land you are
near. You may not use the app or anything in it to harass, stalk, threaten or intimidate anyone, to
contact a person who has asked you not to, or to break any law. You may not copy, scrape or
bulk-download data from the app.
4. Your use of the app
- You must be at least 13 to use Landhand, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
- Do not interfere with the app or the services it uses, reverse engineer it beyond what the
law allows, or use it to break the terms of the data providers it relies on.
- What you create in the app (clients, waypoints, tracks, notes and photos) is yours. How the
app handles your information is described in the privacy policy.
- We may change, pause or stop the app or any feature at any time, and we may stop providing
it to anyone who breaks these terms.
5. Subscription
- Landhand is free for the first week on each phone, with no account, no card and no subscription. After
that, using it needs a subscription, monthly or yearly, bought through Google Play. The price is shown
in the app and in Google Play before you buy, in your own currency.
- Google Play may also offer new subscribers a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends,
Google Play charges the plan you picked when the trial ends.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel
any time in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions); it keeps working until the end of
the period you have paid for.
- Google Play handles payment, billing and refunds under its own terms. We do not see or keep your card
details.
- If the price changes, Google Play tells you before it applies, and you can cancel.
6. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, Landhand and all of its maps, data, labels and directions
are provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without any warranty, express or
implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a
particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not promise that the app will be accurate, current,
uninterrupted or free of errors.
7. Your promise to cover us
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Score Software LLC and its owners, employees
and contractors against any claim, demand, loss or cost, including reasonable attorneys' fees,
that comes from your use of the app, your breaking these terms or the law (including trespass and
hunting laws), or your violating someone else's rights.
8. Disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana and, for the arbitration
agreement, the Federal Arbitration Act.
- Before starting any claim, write to us at the address below and give us 30 days to try to
settle it.
- Any dispute about the app or these terms that is not settled will be decided by binding
arbitration on an individual basis, administered by the American Arbitration Association
under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Either side may instead bring an individual claim in
small claims court.
- You and we each give up the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class,
consolidated or representative action.
- Anything that is not arbitrated will be heard only in the state courts of Phillips County,
Montana, or the federal courts for the District of Montana.
9. Other things
- If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a part of these terms right away, we have not given up the right to.
- These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement about the app. Google Play's
own terms also apply to downloading it.
- If these terms change, the new version will be at this address with a new date, and the app
will ask you to agree again before you keep using it.
